The June 18th meeting of the Kings County Repeater Association will be held starting at 7:00 PM (Coffee & Cake social time at 6:30), all meetings are held at: The Guild For Exceptional Children 260 68th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220. Limited off street parking is available. The closest subway is the "R" line "Bay Ridge Ave" station, just a block and a half away! All are welcome, this meeting is open to both members and non-members.

This meeting will feature a presentation by Joe, N2TEE on Field Day.

The August 20th meeting of the Kings County Repeater Association will be held starting at 7:00 PM (Coffee & Cake social time at 6:30), all meetings are held at: The Guild For Exceptional Children 260 68th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220. All are welcome, this meeting is open to both members and non-members.

By popular request, this meeting will feature a "Hands On Lab" about coax and connectors. Join us and learn a bit about coaxial cable, and how to put a connector on. During this lab you will learn how to: Properly cut cable, prep it for a fitting, apply the fitting and solder it on. We will work with several different popular cable types. No experience is required! You even get to take home a cable that you built! This lab is free for KCRA members, non members are welcome to participate for a $5.00 material fee. Supplies are limited.

EC-001

The Kings County Repeater Association, in cooperation with NLI ARES, will provide a free weekend class designed to provide basic knowledge and tools for any emergency communications volunteer. This is a condensed weekend class followed by the examination (Required to receive ARRL credit).

Course prerequisites: Before you register for this class, you must complete the following free FEMA online training, and pass their final assessments:

ICS-100 (IS-100b), Introduction to the Incident Command System

IS-700, National Incident Command System

A recommended course manual is available from the ARRL store.

In order to take the final assessment exam, a check or money order payable to the “ARRL” for $15.00 is required for each attempt. The passing grade is 80%

This class will be held on September 7-8 2013 from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM each day at:

Wesley House, 501 6th Street, Room 6a-6b, Brooklyn, NY 11215

This location is directly across from NY Methodist Hospital, a parking structure is located directly beneath (fee applies). The closest subway is the “F” and “G” 7th Avenue station.

While this class is highly recommended for ARES members who have not yet completed it, it is open to anyone, you need not be a KCRA member or even a ham radio operator!

All full members in good standing are eligible to run for any office of the KCRA. If no challenger for an office is received by the October meeting, the incumbent (should they choose to accept) shall be deemed re-elected to serve 2014 as a officer/board member of the Kings County Repeater Association, Inc. at the November meeting. If two or more members are running for the same office, a paper ballot election will be held during the November meeting. This notice shall remain posted until election results are available.
