2013 Events

Ham Radio University will be held on Sunday, January 6th, 2013. There are many new forums this year including: Echolink (Jon Taylor, K1RFD), MakerBot (Bre Pettis, K2BRE), Tips Tricks and Techniques of the best operators (Diane Ortiz, K2DO), D-Star Advanced - As easy as Pi, Raspberry Pi (Gary Lindtner, KB2BSL), and two new workshops: Connectors and how to use them (Rich Cetron, K2KNB) and Digital Modes and Interfacing (Neil Heft, KC2KY).

The Kings County Repeater Association will be present in the club room again this year, and are seeking volunteers to help with the club table, please let us know if you are available to help.

Its January, a whole new year has begun, seems like the Mayans were wrong. Of course this also means that it's time to pay your membership dues for 2013. Please do so as soon as you can, we don't like to nag.

The February 19th meeting of the Kings County Repeater Association will be held starting at 7:00 PM (Coffee & Cake social time at 6:30), all meetings are held at: The Guild For Exceptional Children 260 68th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220. Limited off street parking is available. The closest subway is the "R" line "Bay Ridge Ave" station, just a block and a half away! All are welcome, this meeting is open to both members and non-members.

The topic of this meeting is "Using the Clubs Extended Repeater Features", and will cover such things as using IRLP and Echolink on our 2m machine, as well as using the extended features of our UHF D-Star repeater.

Fellow KCRA member John Daniszewski, KC2UHA, passed away on Saturday January 5th 2013, a few days past his 69th birthday. John will be remembered for his assistance with the KCRA VE program, his involvement with The Big Apple Traffic Net, his love for ATV, electronics, and tinkering. John was also a very generous person, and in his passing left a sizable equipment donation for the benefit of the club.

This meeting will feature an "Introduction to ARES" presentation by Josh, K2FTC and Jeff, N1JSP. Josh is the ARES Emergency Coordinator for New York county (Manhattan), and a member of the KCRA board of directors. Jeff is the E.C. for Queens County.
